The Fool: What's the best restaurant you've ever been to? (Include name, location, and
average bill for two.)
MFRoger: First I should declare myself as a meat lover; now the name: -Sundance Mining
Co. Palo Alto, CA, $60-70.
The Fool: What's your favorite activity (within the realm of good taste)?
MFRoger: Learning, by reading AND practicing. After College, all my training has been
self didactic; second to that is traveling. When I become a successful Fool I plan to sail the oceans.
The Fool: What has been your best work experience, and what made it so great?
MFRoger: From 1990 to 1997 when I worked for myself in Honduras. The freedom to
choose my schedule (even as I worked 60-80 h/week), as well as continuous growing success made that so wonderful.
The Fool: Describe the most embarrassing personal moment you'll admit to!
MFRoger: It's somewhat blur in my memory (wondering why?); but it was every time I
had been on the spot of whatever... and failed to perform.
The Fool: If you could change one thing about your workplace, corporate culture, or family
life, what would it be?
MFRoger: Workplace: more private space; Corporate culture: Get the heck out of there
as soon as I can (For two months I tasted financial freedom at small scale; and
now I want it for life); Family: Well, once I achieve the above, I will have plenty
of time to share with them (I hope they will like sail boats!).
The Fool: What's been your best investment to date, and how did you discover it?
MFRoger: I am just starting, but my best performer is Strong Blue Chip 100 Mutual Fund
(SBCHX). Yikes! I had to admit that I started with those bashed investment
vehicles, like most people do. I found it through the Internet at www.mfea.com
Being self didactic and having been self employed I decided from the begining I
would not seek the advice of the high-fees "professionals" and their heavy loaded funds (I dedicated an entire weekend just to study in the web site
everything about Mutuals and how to read a prospectus). Later on I learned about TMF through Netscape Netcenter and... Why I didn't change my
selection, well, because of lack of a lump sum. I set up my SBCHX as a monthly (or dollar cost averaging) investment. Needless to say that my next big
move will be a F4 (I will tell you in the future).
The Fool: Do you have a favorite company or stock which the worldwide Foolish community
should know about -- and why?
MFRoger: Not yet. I am still in the process of learning to understand companies.
The Fool: List some of your favorite websites, with running commentary where appropriate.
(Please provide the URLs, too.)
MFRoger: Being an amateur webmaster, my own site comes to my consideration (no
bragging) www.roger-ehome.com
Then how can I forget the site where I learned so much and continue to provide me with lots of fun...
Yeeeess!
www.fool.com (What else did you
expect?) And as a 3D Animator I could not forget about SGI (formerly Silicon
Graphics), www.sgi.com (If only their stock were as impressive as their
graphic workstations!!!). |
