Until
the introduction of a V8 engine equipped model, the Lotus Esprit was the
only super car with an inline 4, 2.2 liter engine!!! With 260+ bhp, 0-60
mph in less than 5 seconds and a top speed of 160+ mph Lotus engineers
really knew how to get the maximum from an engine the size of an average,
daily commuter car. Today the new 350 bhp engine give the car a more
responsive acceleration with considerably less stress. Surprisingly, the
basic shape of the car has managed to remain the same since its inception,
several decades ago. Although its price tag of less than $90K doesn't put
it too far above one's affordability, the fact that this is not a
daily-use car makes it a very expensive proposition. Anyway, there are 52
weekends a year, and that's sufficient for a lot of fun driving around! |
