Leon, Nicaragua 2000

This is NOT the typical view that a tourist get of the chain of volcanoes located in the Pacific coast of Nicaragua. The road that goes from the Honduran border through the Costa Rican border (Carretera Panamericana), runs a parallel course to the ranges. Approximately at the middle of the chain, there is an interruption in the ranges. A paved road connects the "Carretera Panamericana" with Nicaragua's central highway (it runs almost parallel to "Carretera Panamericana"). The volcano at the left, the one with an almost perfect conical shape is "Momotombo", located at the north of Xolotlan Lake, also called Managua Lake.
