The "Digging" Report Q2 2000

June 30, 2000

"Opportunity is knocking. Or is that just your knees?", Investor's Business Daily advertisement appeared on the paper

My Personal "Mutual Fund" OTC:RASXX

Note: OTC means Over The Counter. The ticker symbol is fictitious; please don't ask your broker to buy it. In the rare event that such a ticker does exist please inform me at once, in order to change it. I don't want to mislead anyone.

OUCH!!! It hurts. Although the portfolio is fared better than the NASDAQ on this quarter, it is doing worse than the S&P500 and the Dow Jones Industrials. The crash filled the portfolio with red ink. The dark side of leverage devastated the brokerage account, even as I didn't wait for the value to drop enough to trigger the dreaded margin call. As of this writing a recovery is under way. Let's see how it develops. Could this be just the beginning of a monster bear market?
